THE EMILY FISHER LANDAU COLLECTION: AN ERA DEFINED

Pablo Picasso’s Femme à la montre was sold yesterday in New York for almost 140 million dollars.

The late Emily Fisher Landau left an outstanding collection that was recently sold on auction at Sotheby’s New York.

Among other works, Femme à la montre by Picasso was sold for 139,363,500 USD. However, and contrary to what many expected, it has not surpassed the sale of the work Les Femmes d'Alger auctioned in 2015 at Christie’s for almost 180 million dollars.

In this piece, acquired by Landau in 1968, we find a portrait of Marie-Thérèse Walter, mother of Picass’s daughter, Maya.
